Fun for you debating fanatics out there.

Here's a comment made on Xanga about my previous post.

My Response

I thought about commenting on my "nonsense" fact about the great flood, but I figured it didn't really matter.

Thomas and I have decided to work with an old college friend in his band Stealth Ninja (he's an anime fan). It was an almost completely electronic / program / sequencer type band but he wanted to make it a half and half thing. Thomas had already replaced the drummer and this week I replaced the bassist. It’s fun because the music is stuff I normally don’t play and because it’s not my band. I can relax and be a bass player. I don’t have all the extra stress of running things and writing music.

I think we are doing a show with another band, Solar Fuse at Paadzzi’s in Houston on June 23rd. I will let everyone know more when I know more.

As for the other stuff

- Rhythm Signal: The Light & The Dark CD has taken a lot of twists and turns but it should be out this year.
- Steve Sosa’s new untitled CD should be out this year
- Thomas is working on his solo album but no release time yet
and IF I’m lucky
- the anonymous wondertricks CD might be out this year

Did anyone see the Nightline Face-Off with atheists vs. christians
What a load of crap. Why did you leave Koppel??!! It would have been nice if Nightline had presented facts along with the debate.

They said the actual debate was 80 minutes long and we get to see (maybe) 10 minutes.

BUT

From what little they showed, the atheist’s did nothing more than point out things that show the christian religion is wrong (which everyone should know already if they would bother to check things instead of blindly agreeing with the majority).
The christians showed the giant gaping holes in their methods of reasoning.

Example: Kirk Cameron (yes that Kirk Cameron) said he and his partner could scientifically prove god existed without faith in a way that a child could understand.
What is this big scientific breakthrough that we all have been missing??!!

Hold your breath, here it is - You see a painting and because this painting exists, there was a creator! There must always be a creator for all things, even us and everything around us! We now know the christian god is real!!!!
Ok… so the atheist quickly bursts the bubble by mentioning if everything has a creator, who created god?

However, that’s not what I was thinking. I could go along with the fact that everything around us was created by something and because I have a very loose definition of “god”, I could accept “god” to mean the “something” that did it, but to make the faulty logic jump from everything needs to be created to a christian god is real is ridiculous.

Going back to Kirk’s claim that “a child could understand” made me think of the god Mithra’s birthday… oh wait we changed that to Jesus’ birthday - my mistake.

On December 25th, you look under the Christmas tree and there are presents under it. If presents are there, it must have been… Santa Claus!!!! We’ve all heard the stories so it must be true. Of course, to children it is true. They believe. Their parents told them about Santa and here are the presents as absolute proof.
Same faulty logic.

The difference with Santa is as we grow older we find out the truth. You see something on tv, your parents tell you the truth, etc.
We put religion in a different area where truth doesn‘t matter. When the facts pile up and more and more proof comes out that disproves these beliefs, we either don’t pay attention, ignore it, or make excuses and try to make things fit together.

This gives me an idea.

More fun bible facts for the whole family!

- Did you know that between 250,000 to 400,000 varying manuscripts exist of the various texts of the new testament? Some have small differences and others have huge differences.

- Did you know that if the earth had filled up with enough water to flood the whole thing, the moisture in the air would have been so dense that all humans would have died trying to breathe.

Even though I'm completely burned out today, I what to jump up and dance a jig for no apparent reason.
Hell, what's stopping me - hold on...

(jig time)
(no for real, I'm getting up to dance a jig)
(I'm not joking!)
(Ha! Told you I would!)

Now I'm extra completely burned out and my urge to jig has not been curbed.

I had some profound universal wisdom to share with everyone but I forgot it during the jig.

Thomas, Steve and I had the privilege of seeing a Thomas Lang drum clinic last night.  Most people won't know his name but he has been on about 250 different albums and I think he has been on over 100 different tours (plus movie soundtracks and commercial jingles).
Amazing stuff!!!
Besides playing to songs and showing how he does stuff, he did a 30 minutes free form drum solo!  Not one of those wussy solos that just keeps a nice rhythmic pattern going but a full on extremely technical drum solo.  To put it into perspective, the majority of drummers could not have played most of what he was doing and even the majority of drummers with the skills to play everything he was doing would have been exhausted within 5 to 10 minutes into the solo and could not have continued.

Here's a few bad pictures

playing his final song of the night

I've been spreading myself too thin lately and I can feel my health suffering because of it. I'm pretty sure that if I were better at organizing my days it wouldn't be as bad but I'm the most un-virgo virgo that I know. Organization does not come natural to me.

You scored as Gunshot. Your death will be by gunshot, probably because you are some important person or whatever. Possibly a sniper, nice, quick, clean shot to the head. Just beautiful.

Lovely!  I hope it's a quick, clean shot -  none of that suffering in the hospital stuff.

Thomas and I might be filling in on a friend's industrial band for a while.  There is a show on April 28 (??) and he lost his drummer and his bass player is out of town.  So if this does happen, I will leave the info here for anyone that wants to know.

Maybe I'll find the time to post something again in the next couple of days.

Ian Wallace

From RSR latest noise:

02/23 - Respected drummer Ian Wallace passed away at the age of 60 yesterday. His distinguished resume included King Crimson, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, and many, many others.
Everyone at RSR is greatly saddened by this news and our thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Interview

Questions from [info]unanon

1) Where have you been for so long!?
I've been insanely busy.
Short version - trying to keep up with RSR, doing family stuff, taking care of hurt relatives that fall off ladders, correcting lying politicians, helping misguided individuals, getting a nasty flu that lasted a few weeks, correcting the lies of religion, and various other small things that elude me at the moment.

2) What are the current top-five bands of the moment?
If you mean current top five to the public, I have no idea, but I guess my current top five would be 1.The Police, 2.Kula Shaker, & 3.Van Halen for all realizing they are better together than apart plus 4.Loreena McKennitt for finally putting out a new album and 5.Azam Ali for making an excellent solo album.

3) Documentaries or no documentaries?
I love documentaries. Sometimes you get the facts, sometimes you get opinions to ponder over, other times you get something ridiculous to laugh at or make fun of.

4) Can you recommend a movie/television series I can get on DVD that is safe to watch with the Maternal Unit?
Because of my busy schedule I've been out of touch with movies and tv for a while so I'll randomly pick something... Fraggle Rock season 1 :)

5) How about recommending one that isn't? *waggles eyebrows*
A while back I discovered a British tv show called Peep Show that I really enjoyed (at least the few episodes I saw). I'm not sure if it is out on dvd or not but if it is you will see it on my Netflix's list soon.

FUN RELIGIOUS FACTS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!
Today's fun topic - the Christian Bible - all perfect book written under the influence of the all perfect deity YHWH (also known as God)

Many people know that Mark was the first of the new testament gospels to be written, but did you know that it originally ended much differently than it does today?
The earliest versions of Mark never have anyone seeing a resurrected Jesus.
What it does say is that the women meet a man at Jesus' tomb who tells them that Jesus has been raised from the dead. He then instructs the women to go tell the disciples but they are too scared and run away never telling anyone.

The End

This ending to Mark was not good enough for many scribes so various endings for Mark were created over the years until we have today's current ending.
BUT
even today when you look at the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John) each one tells a different story about the death & resurrection of Jesus.

Not much going on with music or recording lately.  I've been busy with stuff at home, getting other RSR stuff done, doing Truth In Politics stuff, healing my hand, and worrying about a sister in the hospital.  I tried to decorate for Halloween this past weekend but I didn't get much done.  Hopefully I'll finish in a couple days.

I've noticed something really sad lately.  I get a lot of friends requests on Myspace.  It's gotten to the point that I often ignore the friends request thing.  BUT on my T.I.P. myspace page I rarely get requests.  I've also noticed a lack of concern when I talk to people.  It seems not many people really care about doing basic, easy, simple things to make a difference even though they will voice their opinions about bad politicians or the way the government is run.  I hear the same old nonsense.  It's always something along the lines of "What good will it do?" or "My voice won't make a difference."  Unfortunately they are right because not enough people will do something.  So instead of whinying about problems, they should try to fix them.  The more people that try, the more difference it will make.
I also run into people who want to know which "side" I'm on...  left, right, republican, democrat, etc.   I didn't know we were playing a football game.
Is it wrong to want all politicians and government officals to be honest no matter what "side" they are on?
I don't think enough people realize how much misinformation comes out of most politicians mouths no matter their party.  A very simple solution to many problems is to get the people in government to be truthful.  Once the lies are out of the way they have no choice but to do the right thing.

Ok, enough venting.

I've added this BOINC thing to my computer.  Right now I'm doing the BBC Climate Change project.  I've done the SETI project in the past.
I've also been reading "Peter, Paul, & Mary Magdalene - The Followers of Jesus in History & Legend" by Bart Ehrman.  I'm only about a quarter into the book but so far it has been really interesting.

I think I forgot to mention that I went and saw Muse in concert last month.  Really good show but too short.  I would have preferred at least another 20 minutes to make me feel like it was worth $40.

The other day I found some papers that belonged to my great grandmother (on my dad's mom's side).  She was researching our family tree.  I haven't gone through it all yet but I was very surprised at how many of my relatives were killed by the Bolsheviks and by the communist party in the former USSR.  It's even more fascinating to me because I've recently been watching shows about Russia / the former USSR and reading a book about the 20th century that has a good portion devoted to the USSR.  Many of the shows and part of the book deal with how the government would (and possibly still do) dispose of people they consider a threat (probably airing because of the recent murder of Anna Politkovskaya).  I'm hoping that somewhere in these notes I'll find answers to why my relatives were murdered.

Oh well, enough of my babbling.  I've got things to do.

It's been a while. I did try to post 3 times since my last one but someone or something didn't want my posts to show up so I said "screw it".

I've had a lot happen since the last post but unfortunately I've forgotten 98% of it.
Things I remember
0. I turned a year older and a little fatter.  I'd better pick up speed on the exercises.
1. My daughter started Kindergarten.  So far so good.
2. RSR had some major computer problems that hurt business for a couple of weeks.
3. I started this at Myspace and this at LJ.
4. My right hand has healed some.  Now I'm wearing a wrist brace that cuts out most of the pain.
5. I'm still waging my one man war on religion and lying politicians.
6. Steve Sosa moved back to Houston so things should get moving faster on his next cd.
7. Read some new books and found some new music.
8. Annoyed and pissed off a lot of people.
9 is where the memory dies out.

It’s now my favorite month of the year.
Let the old horror movies begin.
I spent most of today looking at Halloween stuff.  Only bought a few candles and spider web candleholders though.  Oh and a couple things for my mixed Indian style / opium den style / Moroccan style office.  One day I’ll finish it.  Actually it’s getting pretty close to finished. I’ll snap some pics when it’s done.
